Ma scusate, Kim non era caduto in disgrazia? Com'è che ora è tornato a sfornare film come se fossero biscotti? Era tutta una presa per i fondelli la litania di Arirang?

Lo diceva lui stesso, in "Arirang", che, probabilmente, la sua era tutta una finzione.

Il 24 Ottobre 2013 è uscito nelle sale cinematografiche sudcoreane il nuovo film prodotto e scritto da Kim Ki-duk. Il film è il sequel di Rough Cut uscito nel 2008.

Io ho visto tutti i film che Kim ha scritto e non ha diretto, per fare un rapido elenco: Rough Cut, Beautiful, Poongsan e anche Secret Reunion del quale ha scritto il soggetto, anche se non accreditato.
In ognuno di questi film ho visto dei riferimenti a suoi lavori precedenti, e ho ritrovano molte cifre stilistiche di Kim.

Per fare degli esempi lampanti:
  • In Poongsan il protagonista è muto e sembra per certi versi un fantasma dotato di poteri soprannaturali.
  • In Rough Cut è presente lo scontro tra il reale e la sua rappresentazione, la quale è forse più vera del reale stesso. (Real Fiction)
  • In Beautiful il tema della bellezza, già affrontato in modo più completo e legato al tempo in Time.
  • In uno di questi film, se non sbaglio, un'anziana signora canta Arirang.
Potrei andare avanti per molto, anche con riferimenti più sottili. Sta di fatto che la presenza di Kim nella scrittura di vede molto, ma non nella messa in scena.
Ho visto che ne sta scrivendo e producendo altri 2 in uscita questo o il prossimo anno.
Mi chiedo come mai Kim decida di scrivere film in un modo molto "commerciale", un modo che forse non gli appartiene fino in fondo. In numerose interviste ha dichiarato il suo desiderio di essere libero (creativamente parlando), quindi non facilmente assimilabile nella fabbrica dei sogni di Hollywood.
I film nei quali è stato solo sceneggiatore sono ben strutturati e molto comprensibili e fruibili da un ampio pubblico. In Rough Play ha utilizzato la star Lee Joon, famoso cantante sudcoreano, forse per far lievitare il numero degli spettatori.

Secondo voi perché Kim scrive e produce questi film? Sono puramente operazioni commerciali per mantenere la sua casa di produzione, oppure c'è dell'altro?
Quali altre "impronte" avete trovano nei 4 film che non ha diretto?
Ho letto numerose interviste, eppure non sono mai riuscito a scoprire nulla a riguardo. Se qualcuno sa qualcosa in più sarò lieto di ascoltarlo...

Spunti interessanti.... io mi limiterò a postare un paio di trailer perché di Ki-duk ho visto ancora troppo poco
né conosco il regista Yeon-Shick Shin.

Poongsan ha un pre-finale più kimkidukkiano di kim ki-duk. Sicuramente lo fa anche per scopi commerciali, visto che i suoi film in patria non riscuotono grandi incassi. Sugli attori non sono totalmente d'accordo. In fondo Ha jung-woo, Lee Jung-jin e Lee Na-young, tanto per citarne alcuni, non sono proprio degli illustri sconosciuti.
