Tre mesi dopo che alcune persone sono annegate per il naufragio di una barca nel mare di fronte a Onomichi, amici e parenti dei defunti iniziano a ricevere messaggi firmati dai loro cari scomparsi che li invitano a farsi trovare a mezzanotte in un piccolo approdo. I destinatari si dirigono sul posto e all’orario indicato la barca spettrale emerge dal fondo mare con i suoi passeggeri morti. Ma la loro permanenza nel mondo dei vivi è solo temporanea.
