TRAMA



L’anziana Nusret, che vive da sola in un villaggio di montagna in Turchia, un giorno esce di casa e scompare. Quando viene ritrovata, i medici le diagnosticano una malattia neurologica degenerativa che la priverà per sempre dell’autosufficienza. La figlia Nesrin decide allora di accoglierla presso di sé, nel suo appartamento di Istanbul. Nesrin, però, è già afflitta da altri problemi: i contrasti con il fratello Mehmet e la sorella Güzin, la crisi col marito Faruk e il difficile rapporto col figlio Murat, un adolescente che trascura gli studi e frequenta amicizie pericolose.

Imamura creò uno dei suoi capolavori con la vecchia, indimenticabile Orin de La ballata di Narayama, che aspetta la morte sotto la neve che scende sul monte e ricopre pian piano il suo corpo.
Ustaoglu sembra porgergli omaggio, assimilando Nusret alla vecchia madre giapponese che sa quando è il momento di allontanarsi per riunirsi al sacro spirito della montagna.
Nusret sparirà nel verde dei boschi mentre, dal pendio davanti alla casa di legno, lì dove ha scoperto il vecchio slittino dei bambini di una volta, Murat la guarderà andar via.
