Trama. Seiichi Kazami decide di trasferirsi nell'Hokkaido, a cercar fortuna, lasciando la piccola isola vicino a Nagasaki dove vive con la famiglia: la moglie Tamiko, i due figli piccoli e l'anziano padre. Tutti insieme intraprendono così un lungo viaggio attraversando il Giappone da sud a nord. Trailer

Miglior film ai Kinema Junpo Awards e i Mainichi Film Awards, "Where Spring Comes Late" (titolo originale Kazoku che vuol dire famiglia) è sicuramente tra i migliori lungometraggi di Yamada, un shomingeki duro e appassionante che raccontando il viaggio di questa famiglia mostra il Giappone del tempo (una parte del film è ambientata a Osaka durante l'Expo del 1970), la trasformazione del Paese, i cambiamenti sociali, la differenza crescente tra campagna e città. Grande cast: c'è anche il mitico Chishu Ryu, noto soprattuto per i film di Ozu. Straordinaria Chieko Baisho.

Grazie per questa traduzione: Yamada era già notevole all'epoca. E grazie a Fabiojappo per la "dritta". Sono d'accordo, bravissima lei, ed è un piacere rivedere un "veterano" gigante del cinema giapponese, come Chishu Ryu.

Un film agrodolce. Un delizioso ritratto familiare e sociale di un Giappone in contrasto tra rurale e urbano. Lodevole presenza del sempreverde Ryu Chishu.
