"Una storia che si protrae nel passato, più o meno recente, chiarificatore per gli inspiegabili eventi del presente. Nomura dirige in uno stile quasi hithcockiano una storia affascinante e torbida, in un giallo di gran classe con ambientazioni nevose e cupe che fanno da specchio alle anime dei protagonisti. Nessuno è realmente innocente, e alla fine le colpe hanno sempre delle conseguenze. Un film impetuoso e potente, "...come le acque del nord...". Accattivante."
